Poncho Sweater

Sleeveless outerwear is trending this season! You have probably already noticed this trend blowing up Instagram. Chances are high your favorite fashionistas are rocking sleeveless trenches, fringe vests, and sleeveless sweaters like it’s their job. Well, since you’ve already seen version one Sleeveless Sweater, today I am presenting you with version two Poncho Sweater.

Who doesn’t love a cozy sweater to curl up in on a crisp autumn day?! Especially when it is one that you can take from day to night. The poncho sweater, my friends, is a must-have item. Slip one of these on with a pair of leggings and boots for an effortlessly chic look, that happens to be just as comfortable as your pajamas! When it is time to hit the streets for happy hour, throw on some distressed denim, a pair of pumps, and off you go. I chose option two for this weekend’s activities and paired my poncho with dark blue ripped jeans and nude pumps. When you have a petite frame and you’re styling a shapeless garment, the more height the better – I didn’t want it to look like I was swimming in the thing!

I accessorized with a long tassel Kendra Scott necklace (thank you Rocksbox!), green bangles, and a taupe purse. Riding the pom-pom bandwagon, I attached a brown fluffy little thing to my handbag for a bit of flair. Yay or nay on the pom-pom fad?! Call Current Clothing (415) 400-5517 to order this ensemble, or shop similar styles below. Let Nancy know that Kelsey K sent you!

Chevron Shirt

Chevron is like the print that keeps on giving. From tapestries, drinkware, to apparel, this pattern is everywhere. Here is how I styled my latest zigzag find.

The Glamorous Chevron and On Knit Top from Nasty Gal throws back to the 1970’s, and the orangey-brown hues make it the perfect fall piece. Featuring a mock-neck, and cropped fitted bodice, this little thing was made for high-waisted bottoms. With the temperatures dropping in San Francisco, I paired this top with high-waisted denim pants, although I originally planned to wear a high-rise denim skirt. I incorporated a boho leather and silver belt to create a smooth transition from top to bottom and layered up with a faux fur vest. I completed the look with a pair of mustard statement earrings and my new “boots with the fur” from ShoeDazzle.

Crazy For Cruffins

If you have not yet experienced the #MrHolmesBakehouse Instagram “takeover,” hop to it! I am not going to lie, if it wasn’t for the pink “I Got Baked in San Francisco” neon sign blowing up my feed, my summer would not have been as sweet.

Tucked away on Larkin Street, minutes from the ever popular Union Square, sits Mr. Holmes Bakehouse – your home to the croissant muffin aka “Cruffin.” Holmies line up daily by 8:30 am to get a taste of this decadent concoction. If you snooze you lose – there is a method to the madness, and I’ve got it down to a science. Arrive no later than 8:35, grab a coffee, then wait in line until the first batch of cruffins is out of the oven promptly at 9.

This savory breakfast item is flakey like a croissant, shaped like a muffin, and filled with a different pudding flavor each day. From peanut butter and jelly, pistachio, to salted caramel, you name it they’ve made it. My favorites to date are peach cobbler, and triple chocolate. If this description does not have your mouth watering, an even larger assortment of baked goods is available open to close. Artichoke danishes, sticky buns, brioche bombs, and heavenly donuts to name a few. The sugar covered donuts are my second favorite and flavors change daily, but if you’re lucky, it’ll be a passion fruit day.

So, the next time you’re in San Francisco, plan your day around a trip to Mr. Holmes Bakehouse and thank me later. If you like my style, and need recommendatioms for an epic day in San Francisco, check out my post, “24 Hours in San Francisco.”

Wishlist Wednesday: Dress up your Kitchen

There is no better way to get motivated in the kitchen than with new kitchenware. Ever since the Red Dress Boutique began carrying home and office supplies, I have been swooning over their selection of dishes and kitschy items. Below are a few currently on my wish list.

You know you are getting old when you are excited about a salt and pepper cellar. But seriously, have you ever seen one cuter?! Ditch the factory made salt and pepper shakers and store your everyday spices in style. This pretty little thing will instantly “dress up” your cooking space.

Whether you are preparing a simple meal for two, or a gourmet party spread, sometimes it is fun to sip n’ cook! Pour yourself a glass in these adorable Kate Spade His and Her stemless wineglasses. If wine doesn’t suit your fancy, gift this drinkware to your favorite bride-to-to-be. They won’t disappoint.

If you’re poppin’ champagne or cracking open the vino, then add this fancy bottle stopper to your bar tools. Crafted out of a vintage door knob, this gem will sit pretty on your kitchen counter. While you’re stocking the bar, you might as well complete the set with the matching antiqued bottle opener.

Black and Gold Origami Romper

Origami is making a comeback, but not in paper form. Rather in the form of skirts, shorts, and skorts, and boy is it flattering. Although I’ve noticed this trend for several months, this weekend was the first time I took an origami garment out for a spin.

When something is hot, Current Clothing is the spot! Of course this chic boutique would carry such a fashionable item. This black and gold one-piece stunner is everything you’ve ever wanted in a romper. Unlike some onezies that take you back to kindergarten, this one is figure flattering and age-appropriate in several ways. First of all, you can barely even tell that the top and bottom are connected. The upper half is no different than your go-to black v-neck blouse, and the perfectly tailored skort synches right at the waist. What a treat when someone else does the thinking for once! To go along with the whole geometric theme, I threw on a pair of fishnet stockings. If you want to take your black ensemble from mediocre to fabulous, incorporating fishnets is an easy way to do it! With black and gold being one of my favorite combos, I simply accessorized with black heels and glitzy statement earrings.

Call Current Clothing to order this romper. Let Nancy know that KK and GG sent you.

Angora Vest

If you’ve been keeping up with KK and GG, then you already know I’m a big fan of a mini dress and over-the-knee boots. Throw in an angora vest and what you get is perfection. Leave it to Current Clothing to carry such an ensemble.

You can never go wrong with a monochromatic look. Just like pairing black and black, you can do the same with virtually every color in the rainbow. Already stocked up on enough brown faux fur, it was only natural to scoop up this gray vest. For today’s outfit of the day (#ootd), I kept things simple with a gray color scheme, and styled this fuzzy vest with a faux suede tunic. Only five feet tall, this top fit me as a mini dress, but it could be worn as a long-line top too. To create contrast, I accessorized with sheer black lace stockings, an ombrĂ© clutch, and suede over-the-knee boots – what a difference a little lace makes! I polished off the look with gray and gold jewelry and created a smoky eye with the Lorac Pro Palette.

Not your Average Overalls

Just like cord skirts were popular during my childhood years, so were overalls. While they have resurfaced in 2015 fashions, it has been hard for me to find a pair that did not look like they were straight out of the construction site. Maybe that is my own fault because I gravitated towards the denim ones, regardless, I finally found ’em and they are not your average overalls!

Culottes overalls, my friends…head on over to Forever21.com and order a pair and do it fast! This adult “playsuit” is available in mustard – a great fall hue, features pockets (score!), and a wide leg design. I choose to pair mine with a lace bodysuit because I didn’t want the look to come off as juvenile. Plus, dressy is always better in the KK and GG book. If lace doesn’t suit your fancy, swap it out for a solid black fitted top. I accessorized lightly with a fringe necklace and gold hinge bracelet, and used the opportunity to mix prints incorporating a leopard print clutch. I completed the look with black peep-toe booties.
